Reasons to recommend DokuWiki
I use DokuWiki at work and in my personal life.
I’ve been using DokuWiki almost every day for over 5 years.
I’ll explain why I prefer DokuWiki.
What is Dokuwiki
DokuWiki is a simple to use and highly versatile Open Source wiki software that doesn’t require a database. It is loved by users for its clean and readable syntax. The ease of maintenance, backup and integration makes it an administrator’s favorite. Built in access controls and authentication connectors make DokuWiki especially useful in the enterprise context and the large number of plugins contributed by its vibrant community allow for a broad range of use cases beyond a traditional wiki.

It’s free, so you can separate Wikis for each service you want to do.
For example, Wiki for each team, XXX Project Wiki, Minutes Wiki, Runbook Wiki, etc.
High functionality
Standard functions are highly functional
- There is a search function for the entire page. You can also search below a specific path.
- A responsive web design template that can be switched between PC and smartphone
- You can register files by dragging and dropping from Explorer on the “Upload” screen of Media Manager.
Many plugins
You can extend the functionality by adding plugins.
Since it is a famous DokuWiki all over the world, there are many people who have already developed it when looking for such a function.

While DokuWiki has standard templates that are sophisticated and easy to use, DokuWiki has many free templates.
For example, if you are familiar with Bootstrap, there are templates that use Bootstrap.
I’ve customized the default Dokuwiki template a bit and used it as my template.

You can see when and who modified the page. AD linkage and LDAP linkage can be easily performed.

If you have a server, you can easily start using it.
PHP
Because it is written in PHP, it can run on many servers with simple preparation.
Easy to install
All you have to do is unzip the downloaded file and make the initial settings from your browser.
No DB(Database) required
Since there is no DB(Database), you can easily move the server.
If you want to move certain content to another wiki, you can just copy the file.
Backup is also OK if you save the file.
Easy to change settings
DokuWiki has a setting change screen, which can be easily done from the browser.
Easy to Upgrade
DokuWiki has an Upgrade plugin that you can easily do from your browser
Easy service replacement
Once the new server is ready, you can simply move the files to the new server and it will work.
